Our Leader

Elder Lorenzo Edge was born and raised in the Old Town of Winnabow, NC.  Exhibiting extraordinary abilities, he was recognized early in his life as a chosen vessel, destined by God to be a leader.

After graduating from Brunswick County High School, Elder Edge pursued a career in shipbuilder in Newport News, VA.  He later relocated back to North Carolina where he married the former Annie E. Moore.  Together they have four children.

Elder Edge joined the Wilmington Fire Department starting up the ladder as a rookie firefighter.  During his tenure with the fire department, he became a Fire Service Instructor, First Aid Instructor and a North Carolina Certified E.M.T.  He moved through the ranks to become the first black Fire Officer, Fire Lieutenant, Chief of Training and Chief of Operation.  He received numerous awards and commendations.  After serving thirty-four years with the Wilmington Fire Department, Elder Edge retired as Assistant Fire Chief.

In October of 1976, Elder Edge and his family joined Faith Temple Church Of God In Christ under the pastorate of Pastor C.E. Anderson, Sr.  Under his leadership, Elder Edge was trained on how to become a leader in the church and in the home.  He served as a deacon for twenty-two years.

In 2003, God called him to preach the gospel.  In 2004, Elder Edge was ordained as an Elder under the leadership of Pastor Thomas A. Wiggins, Jr.

Elder Edge was appointed as Pastor of Faith Temple Church in November 2014.  He was then appointed Superintendent of the Greater Wilmington District in July 2016 by our Jurisdictional Prelate Bishop Stenneth E. Powell, Sr.
